The next Mainstreaming on Main Street roundtable gathering will be happening on Tuesday, August 13. This is a conversation by and for persons with disabilities who are interested in becoming more actively engaged in the use of their skills and abilities in community and economic life.
When: Tuesday, August 13, 2013 from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Where: Troop Café, 3430 W Wisconsin Ave
Topics for discussion:
- Who is around the table?
- What do you do to stay focused on your goals?
- Other topics?
Assumptions:
- We all have unique skills and abilities.
- We are most creative and productive when we are engaged in the things we are passionate about.
- We want to be engaged in productive activities, even if they do not include financial reward.
- As people with disabilities we would rather: be interdependent than dependant; do with others than have done for us; find justice rather than receive charity.

- If you are interested in being a part of this group but cannot because of the time of day, please let me know some times of day when it would be possible for you to attend. This will help for future planning.

Notes:
- This is a “first person” conversation. All participants are asked to talk for themselves and about themselves. If you are an advocate for persons with disabilities, but do not have a disability yourself, this group would not be a good fit for you.
- Troop Cafe is located at the Northeast corner of Wisconsin Avenue and 35th Street. You can get to Troop Café on public transportation from the #10, #30, and #35 buses. Parking is available along the West (35th Street) side of the building or in the Walgreens parking lot across the street (West of the building).
- Troop Café is a social enterprise intended to provide training opportunities for veterans interested in the food service industry. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from their beverage and lunch menu.
