Building an inclusion team on April 19

I’ve been writing my Doctoral dissertation on workplace environments that are inclusive of persons with disabilities (PWD). The findings of my work lead me to the conclusion that   organizations that are effective in hiring/retaining PWD have a network of resources available to address the adaptive challenges and technical problems that allow them to be inclusive organizations. Two things that are interesting in my findings are:
1. There are many ways to develop an inclusion network.
2. Employers recognize the value of having an inclusion network.

The April 19, 2018 MoMS Connectors Table will examine how organizations and individuals prepare themselves to address the accessibility challenges associated with being an inclusive organization. There’s no one “right” strategy for developing an inclusion network and what works for one organization may not be the best approach for another organization or individual. Come to share your experiences or to learn from others.

Exploring our relationship with disability

Join the conversation

The April 19, 2018 MoMS Connectors Table will explore the teams we form as part of our relationship with disability. We all have a relationship with disability and we all have a team of people, resources, and strategies for engaging with disability. How prepared our team is depends on how intentional we are in acknowledging our relationship with disability. The MoMS Connectors Table is a series of first-person, facilitated, conversations on our relationship with disability.

Who: All roundtables are open to everyone. The roundtable conversations may be of special interest to: employers, HR professionals, professionals with a disabling condition, PWD allies, and disability service providers. As a first-person conversation, all participants are asked to speak on behalf of themselves, from their own experiences.

When: The April MoMS Connectors Table will take place on Thursday, April 19 at 3:00 PM until 4:30 PM. Vision Forward Association campus located at 912 North Hawley Rd., Milwaukee. For more information or to register: Apr 19 Connectors Table

An underlying tenant of the roundtables is “We are each of us broken, and yet, we are all whole persons.”
